How can I participate?
While our initial vision for ArtAreas.com was to create a website for collectors to buy and sell art on the secondary market, the ease of use, and additional services that we provide have made us the website of choice for the primary art market as well. We didn't like the idea of having to pay up front fees to list with no guarantee of success, or the poor quality of presentation, and lack of photos that many of the existing art sites offered. Because of our initial vision, we have revolutionized the display and sale of art online. Today it is as easy to list one piece of art as it is to list many, and visual art is presented in our uniquely visual exhibition. Unlike other online art databases, we provide additional services like transaction capabilities, and act as a go between to help insure that everyone has the best experience online. There is no limit to how many pieces you can list, and there are no fees for listing. We charge only a modest seller's fee, which we deduct from the sale price at the time of a completed transaction.
Many galleries find that they desire to have their own online presence. Because our powerful system allows you to easily list artwork online, we have created a number of subscription programs providing galleries with their own website, and the ability to easily list and organize works. By utilizing the functionality of ArtAreas for their own site, and subscribing to one of our programs, you eliminate the need to spend large amounts of money up front to develop a site, and you eliminate the need for someone with extreme technical skills when making changes or adding content to your site. We have a number of galleries and dealers participating from around the world, as well as artist exchanges, and other organizations. While most galleries only have physical space to display a small portion of their art, and printed catalogs of one of a kind items are prohibitive in cost, having your own website enables you to overcome both of these obstacles to effectively create a full color catalog of unique objects of art. Listing on ArtAreas
To list your art for sale, simply click Add Object on our main page. If your images meet our specifications, your listing will be displayed in our New Listings area immediately. If it does not appear there, it will typically drop into a special folder for our staff to process. We review the new pieces each day, and usually spend a day once a week sorting and categorizing the new listings. When we determine an appropriate category for your piece, it will also automatically show up in any related websites that we run (for example Tribal Art will get displayed in TribalArtsDirectory.com, and Abstract Art will show up in AbstRacTareas.com). If you would like to have a link to your site appear in your ArtAreas listings, simple enter the URL in the description starting with http://. Buying on ArtAreas
When a buyer inquires about a piece, we act as a liaison between them and the seller. We make offers on their behalf, allow them to pay using a credit card online, and provide them with the peace of mind that they will not lose their money dealing with an unknown seller. When someone orders art through our site, we act as an escrow, holding the money until the transaction is complete and all parties are satisfied. In this way, ArtAreas allows you to buy art from other collectors, or to buy art from artists and dealers at significantly reduced prices. Our system provides secure servers with SSL encryption, enabling you to make inquiries and purchases with confidence. We require all shipments to be insured, and require that tracking numbers for shipments be provided to us. We work very closely with both parties to insure that everyone has a good experience both buying and selling online.
